no need study both IF he has not enough time
but still... studying both is the best choice and is more
safer
i think he need to study on map-reading skills
oso, like bearings, direction(NW, NE, SW, SE, NNW, NNE...
blabla...), and the dendritic/dispersed/linear crap, contours oso,
and landforms
